studio showing: May 30
konverjdans - a contemporary ballet company co-founded by artistic directors Tiffany Mangulabnan, Jordan Miller and Amy Saunder in New York City - is hosting a studio showing at the Mark Morris Dance Center in Brooklyn, NY, on May 30, 2017 at 8:00pm (with a pre-show cocktail hour at 7:30pm).
Join us for an evening of new ballets, all to be performed with live music! Catch the premiere of BalletX dancer Caili Quan's new creation - set to the music of Ernesto Nazareth and played live by classical guitarist Julia Egan. Also see a revival of 'STRATA' - the ballet we created in response to the work of visual artist Nancy Baker and in collaboration with our resident composer/percussionist Max Kanowitz - in what will be our first performance of the ballet since its premiere at The Actors Fund Arts Center. You'll get sneak peeks into a brand new ballet co-choreographed once more by the konverjdans directors and set to another score by Kanowitz, as well as a special performance by singer/songwriter Megg Farrell (Sweet Megg), who will perform an excerpt from our ballet-in-progress, 'Suite: Megg', with us. Joining us as our newest dance collaborator is Charles McCall, a former dancer of Pacific Northwest Ballet and Royal New Zealand Ballet.
Seating is limited.
